Winter

Adirondack Cabin on Schroon River is twenty five minutes to Gore Mountain.
GORE MOUNTAIN IN THE ADIRONDACKS VALUED #1 IN SKI MAGAZINE FOR OVERALL VALUE
Skiing has been a big part of the Adirondack winter scene ever since the 1930's, when "ski trains" brought hundreds of enthusiasts from New York to the North Creek Ski Bowl. In those days, skiers were just hopping to escape the "Great White Way" for a great white way down. Today, besides downhill skiing, the Adirondack winter offers, snowboarding and snow tubing. The downhill ski and snowboard centers of the Adirondacks will give you all the speed, thrills, bumps and cruising you can handle. Unless otherwise noted, all downhill ski areas offer food service and have available rental equipment such as skis, poles, boots and snowboards. All downhill ski centers also are open to snowboarders and offer lessons.

Spring

Spring events usually begin in May or even late April in the Adirondacks. A favorite activity is to hike to foot of nearby Mt. Crane and take pictures of the masses of snow thawing in the warm Spring air. Others prefer to to participate in the annual Whitewater Derby in Lake George. You don't have to be an expert to participate in the "Crazy Canoe Race" but you will probably want to be in good shape to try the "40 Mile Paddle". It's fun to just watch also. There's also a street fair with games and rides along Main Street and the Derby Music Festival at Ski Bowl Park.

Summer

The location of our Cabin is truly ideal for Summer activities. If you enjoy mountain biking, we are only twenty miles from Gore Mountain where you can mountain bike to your heart's content all Summer long. We are within 15 minutes of the Hudson River which boasts some of the best white water rafting in the world. If horseback riding is something you desire, the stables are just ten minutes away. Like swimming and boating? We are ten minutes to Loon Lake and 10 minutes from Lake George where you can take a tour of historic Fort Henry, a dinner cruise on the lake, or rent your own speedboat. If you or your kids are thrill seekers at heart, visit the Great Escape action park in the town of Lake George. If hiking is more your speed, we are conveniently located near the Central Adirondack Trail, Teddy Roosevelt Trail, and many others. If you prefer to stay close, Schroon river offers great swimming and fishing spots and of course our own 468 feet of private riverfront.

Fall

The Fall is truly a visual treat in the Adirondacks and the Cabin is perfectly situated to take in all of Fall's splendor. The Southern Adirondack Region is a popular tourist and vacation spot for those who enjoy the Fall months. The Fall is usually know as arts and crafts season. Just a teensy bit south of Adirondack Park border is a crafts show with over 150 exhibitors, along with gem stone mining, fresh baked pies, cider doughnuts, and a real water wheel driven cider mill. Many artists come to the area for inspiration and crafters love the abundance of richly colored leaves for use in their crafts. Others come to enjoy the Fall scenery while riding New York's only gondola to the top of Gore Mountain. If you prefer a drive in the mountains, in less than an hour you can reach the Adirondack Museum located in Blue Mountain Lake. The maker's Fair is something to see. In all, some 35 rustic furniture makers from all corners of America descend on Blue Mountain Lake for this event. Unique accurately describes what you will see at this event since everything is one of a kind and made from natural materials.I f you prefer to stay closer to the cabin then take a drive over to Pottersville where you can visit the caves, or to Warrensburg where you can shop their famous Garage Sale.
